If it hadn't been separately remixed/released I don't think it would be contender for #1. Smart move by her label, it got the single off to a quick start. The version of her alone wasn't charting that high before.

Mariah Carey also is a multi format artist and featured Boyz 2 Men in her song
The fact that BTW is at 3 and has a possibility of going up to 2 a month after its release shows it has longevity.
