Nice to see JLO still @ 1 even though combined she is not
Also great to see Chris back to the Top 10 hope Jeremih follows him soon (his airplay is pretty big)

Reading through these pages is a mess. Rihanna is not a HUGE digital monster in the US. That title is for Katy Perry. Rihanna is a WORLDWIDE digital monster.
And to the others who are saying rihanna had promo in the UK. Didnt you say that people will choose to buy the song after the promo week is complete? Rihanna sold 130k for 2 weeks straight.

S&M is performing superbly for a 3rd single. She's ahead GAGA in 8 countries and counting. Hopefully Germany and US will be soon as it will be released in Germany in a week or so , and she's also nominated for an Echo award.

OH YEAH.....

According to the world chart, Mediatraffic, the following artists are having the most success with singles in 2011...so far. As of March 4th. Not to mention 700-800k points she's garned for the last 2 weeks. There's absolutely no argument. Rihanna being #1 will not change for a LONG TIME. Her songs are smashing simulatneously, a feat that very few can accomplish. Sorry Are you ready for S&M , CKB, Cheers and the new single to continue this trend? Because i am. Thankkkkks.

Rihanna's success in the UK is unprecedented .. She's the first contemporary pop singer to have 3 songs in the top 10 in the UK in decades.

Comparing her success to other pop artists is apples and oranges. According to the year end chart, rihanna sold the most singles and albums in the UK for a female. This year is shaping up to be a great one also.

S&M had one promo spot, but it's holding up very well in many countries with no promo at all. And close to 4 million people already have the album.

AOTL is not included , since she's not credited. Though she holds an intricate role to that song, and also being in the video.

Lady GaGa was the best-selling album female in the UK last year...

I don't understand your point, though, the argument had kind of ended earlier.

S&M is doing well because it's an amazing song, but accurate popbar analysis would show GaGa is increasing at a greater rate than Rihanna - S&M will not snatch the wig, she isn't catching up.

This is the iTunes thread, and the truth of the matter is that Rihanna's biggest solo hit in the last few years (OG) was so lacking in sales vs airplay that despite being a brand new song, a $.69 discount was needed to hit #1.
