ITV's coverage of the Brit Awards was seen by 4.7 million on Tuesday evening, but totally outperformed by Channel 4's popular Gypsy Weddings series, according to the latest audience data.
The music industry awards ceremony, hosted by James Corden, averaged 4.75m (18.4%) for ITV1 between 8pm and 10pm, while a further 167k (0.7%) tuned in on ITV1 +1.
The Brit Awards audience fell off sharply in the 9pm hour, as Big Fat Gypsy Weddings captivated 6.45m (23.8%) on Channel 4. A further 946k (5.1%) watched the programme an hour later, the biggest multichannel audience of the night.
