Actually, for three days there she dipped down below the top 20 to around #30. After the video premiered, it shot back up to the top 15. (Mainly thanks to it airing during Mean Girls 2.)
I personally kind of think it's funny that Avril has a good chance of passing up Britney soon on iTunes. She won't stay for long, though, with Britney's video coming out soon, but I just think it's kind of funny.

That's the whole point of a music video, hun. To PROMOTE the song to make it do BETTER! There's NOTHING wrong with that. I'm sure if Britney were never to promote it, "Hold It Against Me" would start to free fall after falling out of the top ten, too. But it won't because of the music video.
