Rihanna #1 on Canadian Album Charts
Quote:
Josh Groban made a surprising jump on the Canadian album charts this week, after showing his humourous side on TV.
The troubadour's latest disc, "Illuminations," moved up a lofty 16 positions to No. 4, selling 3,100 copies in the process, according to Nielsen SoundScan.
The reason for the big move? Groban went viral last week after appearing on "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" belting out Kanye West's tweets.
"Illuminations" has now sold 75,000 copies since its release nine weeks ago.
Closer to the top, Rihanna scored her fourth straight No. 1 with "Loud" (4,300), while Bruno Mars' "Doo-Wops & Hooligans" took it up a notch to No. 2, flipping positions with the Black Eyed Peas' "The Beginning" at No. 3.
The "MuchDance 2011" collection and Mumford & Sons' "Sigh No More" both fell one place to No. 5 and No. 6, respectively, and rockers Cage the Elephant had the biggest debut of the week at No. 7, with "Thank You Happy Birthday."
Closing out the top ten was the Black Keys' "Brothers" at No. 8, Kanye West's "My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy" at No. 9, and Eminem's "Recovery" at No. 10.
In the U.S., Cake's "Showroom of Compassion" came in first, followed by Cage the Elephant in second, Taylor Swift in third, Bruno Mars in fourth, and Nicki Minaj's "Pink Friday".
