They do that in the UK all the time. It does affect downloads, they're more front-loaded than they are in the US but overall the UK digital market is weaker because of it. Download suppression does not work anymore, record companies are too slow to realise that. They need to update their methods. If Britney can go straight to #1 then they will alter how they realise music in the UK.

Adele will perform at Alan Carr, he just tweeted it. Britney's Glee tribute will air the same day HIAM becomes available for purchase too. I'm surprised some people outside this board are predicting Britney to trump her but I say N0T. Adele's got 2 songs (2 years old) in the Midweeks now. Bruno Mars is a threat too.

I think it's only Ke$ha releasing on 23rd. She won't be any competition though, she doesn't really have any hype.

Adelle is not a singles artists. She is more of an albums artists. Britney released the day after. I suspect Adelle won't have a big lead at all and Britney a more faster track will take over.

Who is Adellle?

Adele has had two massive hit singles. She may not have had a number one, but she can sell singles as well as albums. Chasing Pavements peaked at #2 (#1 on iTunes) and Make You Feel My Love peaked at #4. The top 3 next week will be Adele, Britney and Bruno. I just don't know what order they'll be in.
