Britney never promotes anything over here since around Blackout era all she's sold has been off hype/existing fanbase. She actually used to chart better a lot of the time in the UK compared to the US. I don't think that many people are really aware of HIAM yet so it'll depend on how it gets built up over the next couple of weeks.

I want Adele to get it. I love Adele and she's had this week reserved since November. Britney better not come out of nowhere and rob her of her first #1. Ideally, they may both get time on top.

Britney Spears has pushed forward the UK release date of her new single 'Hold It Against Me'.

The track, which premiered earlier this week and was immediately released in most countries, was originally due to be put out in the UK on February 20.

However, the Dr Luke and Max Martin-produced song will now be available to download on January 17 because of "overwhelming demand".

Her UK publicist tweeted: "Retweet this if you love Britney's 'hold it against me'! The UK itunes release is now monday 17th Jan due to overwhelming demand! (sic)"

The date also marks the day that the star's Glee episode is aired on E4.

'Hold It Against Me' has so far topped the download charts in 19 countries.

This! Adele deserves this #1. Chasing pavements should of been #1 too.
Hopefully bruno pushes forward his album releases. if it wasnt for adele, he would get a #1 album FOR SURE. But adele is obviously going to take it in 2 weeks.

Neither did I so now it's against We R Who We R, which has had quite a bit of airplay. I'm not sure how this one will turn out...

I'm disappointed about Chasing Pavements too, but it had a great run so I'm happy with it. I'm pleasantly surprised that Adele has blown up over the last few months. I expected this success in 2008, so although it came a little late it doesn't make it any less noteworthy.
