And we're now back. The year of 2010 has been a slow year in music (in my opinion), but that hasn't slowed up this countdown machine maker from producing one of ATRL's most successful countdowns EVER. BILLIEJOE is our first "Most Interesting ATRLer of 2010." Billiejoe invited us into his studio has he takes a break from his next smash countdown setup.
****SCREAMS ERUPT FROM THE PHILIPPINES****
*****FLASHES to INTERVIEW*****
Ms. Foxay: Billiejoe you have been a member of ATRL since March 19th of 2008. Almost three full years of membership here and over 20,000 posts under your belt. You've become a household name within the "YOUR TOP TEN" section of ATRL. As one of the "Most Interesting ATRLers of 2010," How does that feel?

|
Ms. Foxay: That just means you're a non-commercial smash sweetheart and succeeding in a market not catered towards the mainstream viewers of ATRL. Ain't nothing wrong with that. What do you think makes you so interesting that a diverse panel of judges selected you as someone to be spotlighted on this list?

The fact that at over 20,000 posts in ATRL, I rarely get seen posting at other sections and that 90% of all those come from my ratings on other countdowns at YTT.

Ms. Foxay: You made this list hon and you will learn to...

in response***
Ms. Foxay: Your contributions in the "Your Top Ten" section of ATRL has always been very noticeable for anyone that visits the section. Let's talk about that for a second. You own the second most viewed thread ever in the section with 194,000+ views. What do you think is a major factor in people consistently coming to view your thread?

Whenever I see a countdown, I couldn't help but open the thread and see what other people listen to. It's not about promo so that people can view and comment on my thread. If that were the case, I'd be spamming everyone's walls.
|
Ms. Foxay: Well on behalf of several members here we thank you for not spamming our walls with promo, though I have been guilty of such things. As a matter of fact, didn't I PM you for support in a.....BACK ON TOPIC, shall we?

It's just fun to see what other people listen to and discover music from every corner of the world. A LOT of members from Latin America post on the YTT and it's fun knowing that someone from Peru is also a die hard fan of Green Day. I now know a lot more songs and artists than I used to, thanks to YTT and also to ATRL.
|
Ms. Foxay: How much time do you put into your countdown generally? Is it time consuming for you to come up with the countdown, add the BB Code tags, graphics, etc.?

First, I comment on the countdowns and that takes me about 20-30 minutes, depending on how many people decided to update their c/d's on that day. Then, I update the top ten, the wannabes list, and think of a song from the past to feature on the Rewind section. That takes me about 15-30 minutes, depending if I have homework that I'm doing simultaneously while I'm updating the countdown. The layout with the BB Code tags and making graphics is the hard and at the same time, fun part since that's the time you can get creative. I tend to change layouts like three times a year and I see to it that I have, like, a day to make each of those. In making caps, I steal borrow from MTV.com, from other people's countdowns, and more recently I start making my own from Paint and Microsoft Picture Manager. It's very fun.

Ms. Foxay: OH MY! Well aren't you just the dedicate one! Well we appreciate such time and effort placed into your work published on ATRL.

Ms. Foxay: I noticed the evolution of your countdown thread from the first post to your current posts. You have more graphics and BB Tag Codes than what you first started out doing. What led you to spicing up your countdown's appearance? Was it to attract more viewers? Just needed a face lift?

To tell you the truth, yes, that's my main motive. I started putting more features, elaborate layouts by putting tons of table scripts, and adding occasional gimmicky stuff like polls so more people would view my thread. Actually, this started late 2008 when I was about six months into my countdown. I would get so caught up in making more comments than JaPoY did on his top ten because I found it challenging.
|
Ms. Foxay: Well well well, aren't we really competitive, huh?

You may continue now!

Uh...yea, so....Then eventually, I reached my goal and had my countdown reach more than 10,000 comments. Then I realized that I wasted a lot of time and energy throughout the months into this and started to think what I was doing was nonsense. That's why recently I've started downplaying with the features and layouts, because all that matters is you get to show them your countdown for the day and not the gimmicks or the number of comments you get.

We'll return, right after this commercial break where we'll hear Billiejoe talk about his love for a certain Gaga music video, his feelings on a certain ATRL Big Brother contestant, and his closing remarks.
