In the US, it is pretty much dead, and won't hit 40 million. It's at 35 million and made 1,5 million last weekend. It is losing screens and is out of the top10.

It has to earn about 18 million overseas, just too break even on the paper. Than it will have to earn some more millions to cover marketing.

It probably would have to earn at least 70 million ww to recoup its costs and that is generous (there are people, who think marketing costs of movies almost equal production costs in some cases).

I am NOT a hater, but it is very simple:

earn back your production budget = breakeven
earn half of your budget on top of that = recoup marketing costs
everything above is proft.

And right now, Burlesque will have a hard time making a good profit at the international BO.

^ he's just saying like it is , I love Christina and i want her to succeed but just look at the Top 10 of those countries the result are weak for Burlesque and in the US it will lose theaters this Friday so it probably won't add an other Million in 1 week. And at the end they probably expected better for that budget but it's not a big flop either. I'm curious to see what kind of roles she's gonna take next if she actually want too act again.

But there is still some big market left oversea it need to do well in Spain, France, Italy, Brazil etc..

I am judging its US BO and it will hardlyy reach 40 million on a 55 million budget (PLUS marketing!)

This is not the music business. She can't release a new single and go on a big show and propel sales. The movie is losing screens and its weekly take will get smaller and smaller.

And the numbers from the UK and Japan are NOT good. Even if they may sound good they represent a #6 and #8 (?).

And based on those first numbers I think it won't do that big of a business in other oversea markets.

It needs to make at least 30 million overseas to be break even.

And I am judging the BO performance NOT the movie, which I, btw, really want to see!

I agree that the numbers from UK are not good. But when it comes to Japan, Burlesque was release there last Saturday. So 800k is pretty good for 2 days (Saturday-Sunday)! And it is the the 3rd highest International film in the top 10! When it comes to the US and WW, we'll have to wait and see. I still think Burlesque can go higher!

Under normal circumstances it would have grossed more but would have stil been #6 so still not a hit.
