I don't know about where you guys were but over here it was Avril mania. It was probably a bigger hit here than CIL whether it is to your taste or not, it was a massive debut. Spawning a load of stick it to the man pre-teens and tbh some pretty good music.

Avril's first album was huge, it even sold more than Beyonce's in the states.

YES Mariah and Madonna are legends but I don't think they get a huge impacts with those songs I don't even know them
maybe because I didn't born at that time but it doesn't matter when it's a classic and has a huge impact like 'Thiller' of MJ for example every generation knows it.

Madonna iconic single was 'Like A Virgin' unfurtunatly it wasn't her first and Mariah which I LOVE could have like a million #1s but I don't think ANY of her singles are ICONIC. (Except of 'Without You' but that's not even her song.)

I wouldn't call it iconic either but I can understand why some people would think it was. If that's your style of music Avril made a pretty big impact.

I think you are incorrect about Mariah, and that is coming from someone who hates her. She does have a few iconic singles, particularly We Belong Together, even though I hate that song and think it's boring as ****.

But I certainly agree that Mariah and Madonna's first singles weren't iconic.

"Crazy In Love" is million times more iconic than "Complicated" and "Genie In A Bottle" too.

The legacy of "Vision Of Love" is undeniable.

And none of Mariah's #1's is ionic?
