Not really...usually you can tell when someone is currently making an impact in the music and pop culture world, because you'll overhear conversations about it. For example, when Gaga was in her media frenzy last year when everyone was obsessing over her, everyone in my school was talking about the Telephone video. Now, no one has really mentioned Gaga, because Katy came along and she has the spotlight right now.

I've never heard my classmates discuss her before. This year I did...also in relation to Halloween costumes

Someone like her who always wears unusual outfits can't really lie low...

How long was Katy's break in between albums? In my opinion, that was the perfect length of a break in order to create hype but not become overexposed.

There's also the hype she's receiving from awards shows, she's not really out of the spotlight at all. I'm really disappointed she's not releasing a single soon but I'll get over it.

She took about a year give or take a month or two, but in between that time she was featured on two singles. (3OH!3 and Timbaland). The difference between Katy and GaGa taking a break between releasing is that Katy faded into obscurity whilst GaGa is still a media darling.

Right. She is always mentioned and people are waiting and increasing their expectations.
She said she doesn't care about getting new fans but it's going to be gradually more difficult to meet the demands of the current fanbase. With that mindset, I think she's driving herself into a corner.

Taylor's SN has a very good chance of going back to #1 after the holidays. SN is gonna sell loads throughout December & I expect it repeat Fearless' longetivity in the winter months.
