I actually respect Taylor Swift and her fans. They don't freak out like a certain stanbase when her singles sell like a no.1, but don't actually hit no.1

I do. Justin Bieber is more than likely a fad, who cares if he's had a #1 or not? #1s are definitely not the be all and end all but I've been following charts for years, positions are important. The Beatles have had the most 1s, there's a reason for that.

I kinda agree that they are important to a certain extent. But would any fool really say that Rihanna is WAY more successful than Gaga because she has 7 more no.1 singles in her pocket, but none of them sold as much as Gaga's. Sales and positions are both important

It's not really. Katy has had 3 #1s, and Firework could potentially by her fourth. Ke$ha has also had two. 4WW (and UK) #1s is impressive.

I think it's more important for artists to have consistency in their career. Britney had only #1 until recently. You can get tons of #1s early on in your career, but as you age it gets harder, and then you look like a flop who failed to live up to your early heat.

Yeah totally, I really thought Bad Romance should have been #1 on the BB100. Aside from that, I think all of her other singles charted fairly based on its composition.

I envy the UK love for Gaga. Just curious, did Gaga ever perform one of those no.1 singles on XFactor? That's a cheap way for anyone to get a no.1. I know Telephone wasn't performed, but idk about the other 3

I'm tired of people downplaying Rihanna's #1s. I'm no stranger to shading Rihanna, but 9 #1s is a phenomenal achievement. Her sales may not be as impressive as GaGa's, but she was the digital sales Queen before GaGa came along. I wouldn't compare Rihanna's tally of #1s to GaGa's because she's been in the industry for over 5 years. Rihanna only had two #1s before she released her third album.
