Don't get it twisted, the Utada stans don't really seem to mind. I checked her fansites before I came here and every stan was disappointed with the sales, but were very glad that she released something in the first place before leaving.
We have nothing to be embarrassed about

Oh.
I'm sure you really do not care about her sales at all, since she's such an indie and underground artist, hm?

If it turns out that it flops, oh well. In the end, no one can be famous forever. Legends like Mariah have flopped dreadfully before but NOTHING will take from their legacy.
If Utada's period of success is over I don't really care. Her sales mean nothing to me (though it would be nice if it sells consistently), only the music.

Of course you would say this right after she flops.

All of these things are EXACTLY what the Christina stans said regarding Bionic's sales.

Of course I care, I want it her sales to be big, she deserves it. What I'm saying is, Koda, Ayumi, and Namie have all had at least one poorly selling album. You as an Ayumi stan, do not care that RNRC sold poorly. Am I right? Sales don't equal quality and sales don't affect fans in any way. (Unless the album sells like 100 copies and the artist is dropped by the label )

I guess it's hard to admit that your fave is flopping when she was big back in the day. But oh well. It's life isn't it.

SCV2 doesn't look like it will outsell RNRC which means RNRC was a smash if it outsold the GH and Farewell album of a legend who once sold 8m with a studio album. :coffee2L

The sales weren't THAT bad. It was a regular studio album and Ayu isn't as popular as she once was. BUT this is different. Best Albums are always really successful. If Utada is flopping with a BEST + FAREWELL album...I don't even want to imagine what will happen to her career in the future.

I've always believed that, don't let stanning get in the way. I've always been pretty level-headed about this kind of stuff.

Well, since you're stanning for Utada, I think you should care
Me, as an ASHLEY TISDALE stan, I don't really care for her sales because I know she isn't going to be big in the music industry, so I just care about her music.
BUT as an AYUMI HAMASAKI stan, I care about her sales because she's the biggest and most known J-Pop artist internationally. If she starts to flop like THAT...it's not a good thing.

You guys completely missed the point.
I'm not comparing the two albums. RNRC DID have poor sales, lets not even try to argue against that. Ayumi used to be able to sell a good amount of albums and she struggled to do so during that era. No point in fighting that. My point is that the music was not bad to her fans despite poor sales.
I know you guys are just trying to demean Utada's album, but come on, are you telling me that what I am saying really doesn't make sense to you?

Oh come on sis give Ayu a break. After being one of the most popular female stars for over 12 years without a break and slaying her sales are fine.

The new Utada songs are good, indeed, but we're not talking about music here. We're talking about sales.

You shouldn't care
How exactly do her sales affect your enjoyment of the stuff she puts out? I mean, unless you are getting a check directly from her label. If that's happening, then you should care about sales.

But your wrong about the RNRC sales
It sold poor compared to her other albums, but her album still sold reasonably well.

Because if big artists who used to sell MILLIONS start to flop like there's no tomorrow, their label could get ride of them.
