Cheers would do absolutely terrible on the charts (in America, atleast). If alot of Rihanna's fans can't even get into it (me being one of them) after several listens, then I doubt the general public is going to like it. S&M is already doing REALLY well on the iTunes charts, so releasing it as a single would be the wise thing to do. It has the ability to smash like Rude Boy did.

Rihanna fans want her doing generic pop. "Cheers" would be a huge, huge anthem, especially with Spring coming, and might actually sell her album. While "S&M" will do what it's doing now, decent on iTunes and doing nothing for the record.

No, I totally agree with you, I just think Cheers would be more appropriate for early Spring, like around the time Rude Boy was released. It'd probably smash then, with Spring Break and whatnot. I just think the general public isn't ready for it yet.

I expect this single would be out in February. At least hope. "OG" is still huge, "WMN?" is becoming even bigger. If "Cheers" came end of January/February, it'd blow up just in time for Spring leading into Summer which then people will wanna dance and she can "S&M" or whatever.
