I don't think we ever added physical and digital though. We always talk about the total physical sales because its hard to get digital sales most of the time. It seems you know how to get them though

Also I should mention if we ever got an overall total for all of the divas Kumi, Ayu, and Hikki would probably lead the pack due to their digital sales. Namie's digital sales are pretty week and I don't see them being more then 5-7m at most which means Kumi has probably outsold her overall total. My Kumi figures have many certain digital outlets missing for them as well as not having lots of her tracks (especially her recent hits like Lollipop/Suki De) at all.

I mean just look at Flavor of Life. What's easier to brag about? 650,000 total sales according to Oricon or 8 million + sales according to Oricon.

Maybe the reason physical sales for the solo artists looks so slow is because more people are buying digitally. I think digital sales should really be included in Oricon so that we don't just see a small portion of their sales

And even with Kumi's digital sales there's no way she outsells Namie in overall sales.
Kumi wasn't even in the top 40 of overall J-Pop artists when Music Station did the list while Namie was the 4th female overall.

Add in both their digital sales & Namie most likely still wins. Most of Kumi's digital sales are inflated.
Like how "Suki de" supposedly did 3 mil yet it only just got certified gold for 100k downloads by the RIAJ. A MESS

Kumi has sold about 13.5m-14m in CD sales. Her digital numbers are between 20-25m which put her at 33.5m-38m in overall sales. Namie has sold 30m according to Oricon but her digital sales are no more then 5-8m which gives Kumi the edge.
