People may think you are not the most appropriate person to say this because you may be very well known by a lot of people in here, but I think you resumed the most important point of this under/overrated thing.
Charts and rankings are important at some point, to signal currently stats of things or people. To make an example, ATRL's origins was TRL, a top ten of the current most popular songs; something like are now are the iTunes charts. Does it mean that those songs are the best of ALL THE WORLD? Of course not. Popular doesn't necessarily mean good, there is not only pop music on the world, there is rock, country, rap, hip-hop, gospel, classic music, and much much more.
Same happens with members, the chart published months ago containing the "100 most essential members of ATRL" contained the most essential members, who I suppose were very popular at some point in this place. According to the viewevers some members deserved it, some members not. We won't be entirely agree with something that rates popularity, that's my main point 
May I consider underrated, I don't know. To be honest, I like to be a little bit popular, but I want to be a little bit underrated too, having some privacy. I don't like to feel overwhelmed with opinnions towards me but I do like to be mentioned on some parts. I think that's how I am on the real life too.
There are some people who mentioned me , thanks Jurred and MusicTalker, I consider you guys very good members too. Haha, and of course Orfeo and sticks. I'm doing what Matty said on the post I quoted, you see? 
There are some new people who are very nice, actually, I don't know whether they feel very important the fact of being popular but I think they deserve at least to be well recognized. BTrisc0392, Roman, TheGeoKing, you guys make me feel that ATRL can be a place to discuss maturely.

I'm not very well known here. Some new members think I'm new even though I've been here for 3 years 
Charts and rankings really don't matter because it constantly changes like you said with music and popularity means nothing because what is popular to someone but not be to someone else. That's why we have multiple charts and rankings on everything, but if combined there is gonna be controversy because not everyone is gonna agree
yes nothing is about popularity with what you quoted wasn't suppose to be about popularity I was just saying to be happy if you didn't place, if you did place, or were slightly mentioned. Just be you don't let a list rank you
