Gaga was first brought into this by a Taylor stan saying that her popularity "killed" Gaga's and made the latter look like Christina by comparison. I responded to this with by pointing to the very real truth that the music market goes beyond the U.S. Nothing pressed about that.

And selling 11m+ WW is not "barely 6m," talk about being pressed.

And in reference to touring, the point is that Gaga can nearly sell out sixty shows in Europe (while Taylor does six shows) because the demand is there for her.

I never said Taylor was not a huge selling artist in the U.S., but I do disagree that she's the biggest music star in the world at the moment. My two cents.

No, I do think a lot of people don't give WW sales enough consideration in comparison to the US, which I think is understandable to an extent given a) that the US is the biggest single market in the world, b) most posters are from the US, and c) reliable overseas sales figures can be harder to come by.

At any rate, if we're going to do a sliding scale based on genre (e.g., Taylor doing well in Europe considering she's country), then I'd say 4x Platinum for a pop album is equally, if not more, impressive than 6x Platinum for a country album.

I'm the furthest thing from being a fan of Taylor's (I think her music is vapid schlock), but I'm not denying her selling power in the U.S.
