Yeah, her role wasn't groundbreaking. To be honest, a lot of times, these actors win awards for other reasons outside of the performances. I remember there being a big hoopla over the Halle Berry/Denzel wins in 2002 and why they won. It was crazy. Same with Jennifer Hudson. Reese Witherspoon, Nicole Kidman... the whole 9.

Halle was amazing in Monsters Ball. She deserved it imo. Her movies since then have sucked though.

well when I saw that I didn't Think WOW!! My problem is not the fact that she won, my problem is that she was the 1st to win it when they have been more impressive performances from black actresses before. Well it happened...
For me it's just like a **** movie. But I'm happy she opened doors but I wish she should have done it with another type of movie.
