Well, higher road and a better ability to handle things like hatred. There are gonna be haters no matter what, some people just hate others. That's why I said (somewhere in one of the threads) that kids these days need thicker skin and better places to open up. I think if the seven teens had people to open up to, then they wouldn't have kept it in.
The higher road comment was more towards the people who aren't being directly bullied. If someone is being bullied, it's more important to talk it out than anything else. IMO.

So, fight hate with hate? TBH, I was bullied TREMENDOUSLY in school. I'm still alive. I'm not condoning bullying, but these kids didn't force them to commit suicide, that was their own choice. I do think something needs to be done, but you don't fight hate with hate. That just gets you nowhere. I think there needs to be harsher punishment for bullies.

Regardless of the debate of whether or not people choose to be of the sexual orientation they are, while bullying is very sad, as is suicide, I certainly don't think people need to ever resort to killing themselves over that. Bullies are just people who are insecure about themselves, and doing something like killing yourself will just make them feel better.

I'm afraid I don't understand the question, sorry.

It's sad that they're actually trying to defend these individuals. The comments posted on that Facebook page are the same type of comments that can help lead to suicide in the first place.
*Sighs*
Children these days.

But you are likening being gay to being a theif.
Being gay isn't a choice nobody chooses to be ridiculed, harassed, picked on etc based on how they feel towards someone of the same sex.
OT: Why was this thread reported ?

There is a fine line between standing up for yourself and hate. I didn't say we should go out and bomb straight marriages. All I said is that these boys should not allow themselves to be bullied. It would not hurt to fight back if someone decided to bully them or gay bash them. If you dont stand up to a bully they will keep bullying you until.... well you know the rest, it's on the first page.

It's not even a high school thing. When I was in college I was bullied BADLY. To the point I had to see a counselor for the last 2 years. Even now in grad school people are hating on me. They find any reason to hate. It's just how things work...

I agree with what you're saying, but I didn't take it that way. Thinking of it that way seems to be a bit overthinking it. But I mean, there isn't another really good comparison.

For the record.. I don't think HausOfCherry meant being attracted to the same sex is a choice, but living a homosexual lifestyle is. Like I said, you can't control who you're attracted to, but you CAN choose to ignore those instincts and go the "normal" route. You may not be happy, but it was a choice.

Ok. I see what you're saying then. Standing up for yourself I totally agree with though.

Nobody in their right mind would choose to be bullied.
However, if a person has their heart set on loving the same sex, they will love people of the same sex. Same for straight and bi people. And acting on that choice to love who you want sadly does lead to bullying.

Oh I know that. Actually, I wasn't bullied much in high school. Middle school is when it was the worst. Just plain awful.

How about 'being straight'?
I can't help being attracted to women, it's been this way since puberty and something that's completely ingrained into my mind.
I figure it's the same for homosexuals, just towards the same gender.

This could have easily been done without exposing people's names, pictures or even quotes. I just objected to your "ways".
and being gay could only be a choice in the sense that not every choice is fully conscious. simply; our hardware is capable of being attracted to about anything, how we wire them on the other hand depends on genetics, environment etc.
