It was very apparent during the TITO era. I'm not the only one who thinks so either.
Maybe it's because she's not used to doing interviews in english or her mannerisms are a bit different from being in Japan for so long but she def. I had that "I'm too good for the U.S." tone in her voice.

Your mannerisms thing might be true, I haven't seen what you are talking about though.
Even if she does act "arrogant" like you said, maybe she just likes to let loose a little more in America where she isn't widely known. Its why she has more creative freedom and can make songs like Dirty Desire that she would have not otherwise been created.
