I'm sure more than 5 straight people have committed suicide recently, so why make a huge deal out of it cos he's gay? Being gay doesn't make you more important. Do you think suicide should be highlighted cos he was gay? I feel sorry for him but he doesn't deserve any more attention/sympathy than the straight teens who have committed suicide.

He didn't kill himself cos he was gay, or at least not as far as we know, he just happened to be gay.

Being gay can be the sole impetus behind a suicide. Certainly no one is going to kill themselves from being straight. Hence it's important to emphasize when someone who is gay committs suicide. It usually has to do with their sexual orientation in some manner. It could be for another reason in this case (and in others), but how likely does anyone actually think that is?

Sexuality should generally be irrelevant, but sometimes it's crucial to emphasize someone's sexuality in order to prove a point that doesn't intend to demean their sexuality, but instead build it up.

Listen, you're not getting it either. Of course suicides happen all the time, but the string of gay suicides to happen recently isn't a normal trend.

And I GUARANTEE you that any straight teen who has committed suicide didn't commit suicide because they were straight. That doesn't happen and that's the difference.

We don't know for sure whether or not this kid killed himself because of being gay, but the fact that he happens to be YET ANOTHER gay teen who has committed suicide is unsettling.

Besides, what would be your point / defense if the article confirmed that he'd killed himself because of being gay? You wouldn't have one.

Very likely.... a number of things could contribute to someone taking their own life. I just think it is unfair for that article to come up with a title like that, when they don't know any of Corey's background.

You can guarantee me anything you want, but you can't guarantee that this guy killed himself cos he was gay.

I get what you're saying, but the fact is, there is nothing to say he killed himself cos he was gay. So why label him as that. there are probably more than 5 gay teen suicides over the last few months, its just that not everything is publicised.
