No one's saying that gay suicides are more important. The point is that these people are killing themselves because of being "gay." Don't you see how that's an issue? And yes he's gay - his family said that they believe he was bullied after coming out.
No one said any of that. It's just weird that so many suicides in recent weeks are by gay people. That's all.
Especially when most of them haven been proven to be the cause of bullying because of their sexuality.

I'm curious if the people bitching get mad when they cover simply bullying cases in the media - cases that have nothing to do with sexuality but just bullyingg. In case you haven't noticed, they do it all the time and it's not because it's more important than other suicides. Media likes shock value, and bullying and bullying that has anti-gay sentiment deliver. That's exactly why they get media attention. Mental illnesses and depression? Not so shocking.
I think gay suicides are only mentioned more than others because it has something to do with their sexuality and/or bulleying also which leads to their end of life.
Like NE says, people of all ages and sexual orientations are committing suicide, but they are not publized like others. But like someone else said, homosexuality is at a stir right now in our age of time.
When homosexuality is brought up in our time, either people disapprove or approve. And it's becoming a trendy topic now, which is why you see gay parades all the time now. You see gay suicides in the news now all the time because we are still in the process of accepting the homosexuality life, granted they don't have the same rights as straight people.
If we heard straight people committing suicide because they have hetic, stressful jobs, which leads to depression and or stress all the time, we wouldn't think twice of that suicide but a simple "RIP." But because there are people killing themselves solely because they are bullied about thier sexual preference, it widens the topic a lot more.
We all have stressful lifes, stressful jobs. 90% of the population is straight. No shock there!
But 10% are gay and when we are hearing stories of bulleying in 2010 about someone's sexuality, that's a shock to us because the majority of opened minded people out there just want the same rights granted to gays.
