the itunes 30 sec preview of the song are terrible too, they don't include the chorus ( the best part of the song)

YES. Agreed. I've always thought that, ditto Alejandro.

At first watch I was too mesmerized by the clothes and imagery to get it. By the third or fourth watch the story was apparent and genius.

Maybe that's one of the reason. But she is 10x bigger than she was before "Bad Romance" / The Fame Monster and it will help her a lot. I don't know about the single, but I honestly believe her album has a chance to open with more than 800k first week.

We need another Bad Romance esque video rather then Alejandro, although it was a clever, interesting video, is was not well accepted by the public.

I think it was a combination of her not being as established as she is now, and people not getting the song on first listen. Had Telephone been the first single then I think its opening sales would have been more impressive because the song is more generic, and because Beyonce would have added to the hype. The first single from BTW is going to receive far more attention than BR because people are anticipating it more, when she release BR not many people were really ecited for new GaGa material because Paparazzi was still selling well.

alejandro failed because it is too long. they made her most repetitive song ever even more repetitive

Yeah, BR was too soon after Paparazzi. It was rushed, a mistake... They won't do that now fortunately! Learned their lessons.

Alejandro's preview should have started with "you know that I love you boy, hot like Mexico"...and then ended just as she'd kicked into the chorus.
I think the rahrah part is what put some people off, at least initially. I wouldn't have included that in the preview, I would have started with "you know that I want you and you know that I need you" and included the 1st chorus, ending it before the rah rah part.

I understand it's a bit unrealistic, but she opened with 350k with a 8-track album BEFORE:
Bad Romance made impact
Telephone
Alejandro
The Monster Ball
VMAs domination
52nd Grammy Awards
53rd Grammy Awards
DADT
And her fan base is huge now. I'm not even talking about those 20 million fans on Facebook... I mean, she jumps out of the car's window just to sign autographs, who wouldn't buy her album after that?
And the promotion will be shameless.

So true, but 800K, ****.
I'm not worried about WW sales though, she got that on lock.

Pre-chorus is one of the best parts of the song!
It was sooooo hot in the demo, too.

i'm not worried at all about her sales in europe. In uk the press talks always about her.

Now a bit of optimism to counter my usual pessimism.
IF the song is really hot, records are toast.
