LoveGame was the PERFECT summer choices and it went #1 on Pop and Top 5 on the Hot 100. For a third single by a new artist that was pretty amazing

there was nothing summery on that album, therefor nothing could have competed with California Girls and all the other hot summer songs

If they would have been willing to wait it out they could have released Telephone over the summer and had Alejandro as the winter single instead of Telephone...

and Starstruck sold ridiculously well for not being a single...there's money left right there on the table
