Yesterday Entertainment Weekly released their annual "Power List" in the entertainment industry and Lady Gaga was ranked #2. She landed just behind actor Johnny Depp and one notch ahead of Oprah Winfrey. The next highest music related personality is Simon Cowell at #4. It is sobering to remember that Lady Gaga first landed on the Billboard Hot 100 chart the week of August 16, 2008 with "Just Dance." In just over two years since that debut she is now recognized as one of the most powerful people in the world.

I missed the anniversary of Just Dance's first appearance on the Hot 100.

I'm not sure if Elton's comment was implying that it was like 70s music or not. Taken at face value, the quote is simply comparing Born This Way to an anthem. I would be surprised if it did because I don't think it would do that well if it had a disco sound to it.

I love it, because Just Dance Gaga had a very '70s disco inspired look. It was an interesting clash of '70s glamor and an ultramodern feel that really drew my attention.

But what makes you say that? Elton John's quote? I think he was referring more to I Will Survive's empowering quality.

I think he just compared it cos its a gay anthem, and the lyrical theme is similar. I dont think Born This Way is a disco song.

I wouldn't care if it was a 70s look - I love 70s looks. But the disco sound? IDK. It would be interesting though because disco had a fairly strong connection to the gay community back in the 70s. That would be fitting for a song titled Born This Way that could contain gay implications.
