Everyone hyped Telephone up months before it came and when a lot of people finally saw it they were disappointed because it couldn't match the insane amount of hype.

I agree, it's a good video, and more ambitious than 90% of mv's today, but it couldn't live up to the hype, or to "Bad Romance."

Well not really "everyone". Just people on blogs, twitter, forums etc. The only promo for the video for general audience was a few news articles and that short commercial.

And you can't say everyone was disappointed, the response was amazing.

I think hype for Gaga's releases is always great.

The only videos I truly love from Gaga is Paparazzi and Poker Face. Her other ones, are just too much for me. I loved her others ones at first too, but when I think of it, those are the two I can say I fully 100% love and ofc, are her best ones.

if the album is as good as tfm i don't see why they haven't to hype it..

She doesn't keep it all, but the main source of an artist's income is from touring and endorsements, so she keeps a much larger chunk of tour money than album/singles sales.

I absolutely agree and have been saying this as well.

It's only logical that the more you hype something up, the bigger the chances are that a bigger amount of people is going to end up disappointed because of skyhigh expectations.

I think Telephone was amazing, but not as stunning as Bad Romance.

Hype can turn out to be very useful, but it can just as well backfire.
