19/Jive/JLG former American Idol runner-up David Archuleta’s The Other Side of Down, the follow-up to his ’08 self-titled debut, should do between 22-25k.

Maybe it's not the kind of album that people had the urge to run out and get, but it will get a big boost from holiday sales, and will be platinum by New Year's.

I agree with Gohustle, the new releases are going to drown Katy out. Realistically her sales have been mediocre thus far when you consider that she has had two of the biggest hits of the year. She has promoted relentlessly, and both of her songs have topped the airplay chart. I really don't see what else she could do to give people the incentive to buy her album. People are aware of this album now, they're just not purchasing it.

Oh I agree that her sales have underwhelmed, there's no denying that. But I don't think she'll get drowned out during the holiday sales.

Where do you expect her to be charting during the holiday season? TD is going to start falling soon, so it's going to be up to the next single to promote the album during that time.

I'm sure her position on the chart will fall, but she's bound to get a healthy boost in sales. Plus, "Firework" looks like a hit.

The #1 disk next week might not even hit 70k.
I just...

Everyone is going to get a boost in sales, that's a given. I think Firework will be a hit too but definitely not to the same extent. I don't think it does anything to broaden her appeal though, I think part of the reason the album has been under performing is because there's been very little to set Katy apart from her peers. There's not really anything individualistic about her.

Rhythmic-pop artists never have great first week sales.

I thought Bruno was going to sell 70-80k at least.

Same here, I thought he would do numbers similar to B.o.B.
Hope his album has the same longevity.

Don't count on that yet, back in the day no one believed TD will be a CG sized hit, and now it's pretty much a big hit like Cali Gurls. I feel Firework will be big simply because of it's meaning, so many people can relate to it.

Because imo, he has AC appeal and I thought that would set him apart from the typical rhythmic pop male artist (Jason Derulo, Taio Cruz, Jay Sean)

22-25K is about only 1/9 of what David Archuleta's first album opened with less than two years ago.

I reckon he has time to do that. He's still a new artist. He will get there. I think he's far more talented than those artists you named and I don't think his album will fall off the top half of the charts quickly like those artists' albums did.

I wouldn't say "TD" is at the same height as "CG". Big, somewhat very, yes, but not as big and not even pretty much.
