She has the hits (LTWYL and OG), but will her fans be there for her that first week? I really don't know.

Well, people also need to remember that when GGGB came out, she was still new. She hadn't been around 2 years yet. She had hits, but hadn't done anything to make a lot of people go "damn, I need to buy her ****". GGGB sold well in the end though. First week sales are based more on hype, how big the lead single is and how big your fanbase is. Her last album had the hype, but then she didn't have the hit. With GGGB, she had the hype and a big lead single, but didn't have that huge fanbase yet. This time, I think she has all 3 going for her, so I do think people will be surprised.
With Kanye, his last album was kind of polarizing to his fanbase. Kind of like how Minutes to Midnight was with Linkin Park's fanbase. He also put himself in a similar situation by releasing Power. When LP released The Catalyst, it didn't exactly make people rush to buy it. I personally LOVE The Catalyst. However, when you are following up an album that polarized your fanbase, you don't release another polarizing song as the lead single for the follow up and expect it to work. Kanye did push his album back though. It was originally supposed to be released the same day as Linkin Park's album (Sept. 14th). I think Kanye can still turn it around, but I think he's alienated a lot of fans over the past few years with his music and his mouth. haha He can get them back though, as could LP, but the question is, will he? Like I said, first week is more about people who need to get the album on day 1. With this economy in the shitter, it takes more than just a hit.
With SuBo, she just doesn't have as much hype or exposure this year as she did last year. She could still open big, hell, maybe even bigger. I just can't say for sure yet, since she only released 1 album, and it was coming off a ton of hype. The question about her is whether or not she made solid fans with her last album or people who just wanted to hear what her "amazing voice and story" had to offer.
With Taylor, its kind of a weird situation. She's following up a HUGE era, so chances are she will open big. However, her hype this time around is also a lot less. She still has a whole month though to build that hype. Mine also isn't as big as Love Story was at all. Its just barely going Top 10 on Country and probably won't be going Top 10 on Pop. She does have a really solid fanbase though, so her chances of opening big are great. Just not 100% sold on how big it really will be or if it will even be as big as expected.
