That's true. The US population is 5 times that of the UK, so if the sales were equal it would have sold 5x more than what TFM sold in the UK. It's a shame she didn't, 2.25 million X5 = 11.25 million copies.

But while it's true that she's better understood in the UK, what seems to undermine her success in the US is that she's been chart-****ed more in the US.

After all, she does have the 2 biggest songs by a female artist on iTunes, the biggest album on iTunes, 6 pop #1s, and has sold over 5M albums.

Lady GaGa didn't make a global impact until she came to the UK. British media is more influential than American media. She also holds the digital record in the UK.

Omg I'd forgotten about that I also remember one of her first interviews here which was on the Scott Mills Show and she was saying about how fast the response to her records here was - much quicker than in other countries

I was thinking that what makes Lady Gaga so fascinating is that she's one big, huge contradiction:

-She's kinda ugly, but also hot and extremely charismatic
-Her songs are empty, silly pop, but you also can't get them out of your head
-She's not the best dancer or singer, but also a magnetic performer when on her A game
-Her videos make no sense, but you also can't stop watching them over and over again
-She's extremely arrogant, but also really cute and likable
