You don't even have to look at Koda alone. Utada's, Ayu, and many other's last album sales have declined to some extent or sold amounts similar to their respective previous album.

I think the fact Koda managed to have the #1 female release of the year for three consecutive years (2005,2006,2007) is amazing. The only other person to even come close to that is Utada.

I'm not really sure why Namie is doing so well. I guess she just has a dedicated stanbase. I mean she was the former Queen of Japan, so that had a positive affect on her career

Because BI/GMB didn't click with the Japanese auidence as well as Kumi's "Lollipop" did.
& if were talking physically, Koda had the stronger debut but from the looks of it BI/GMB will outsell 'Gossip Candy' by the end of it's chart run.

"The Meaning of Us" performed well digitally. She should've performed it on a couple of shows to boost P<F's sales.

I'm really interested to see how Kuu's, Ayu's, and Namie's next albums perform. Namie is deffo declining IMO so she won't do as well as before. Surprisingly it seems Ayu may have a chance of having the best selling album out of all three again although "Lollipop" was much more popular then "MOON" and "Break It". It'll be interesting especially if Suki De manages to become another million seller [digitally]. I think her last single to sell over 2 million digitally was Stay With Me which did about 2.5 million.
