Aaliyah was trending worldwide on Twitter and Yahoo and was the number one trending topic as a matter of fact, was mentioned by countless celebs, and was tributed by MTV. Last year, Tupac couldn't even get trending on twitter (although in all fairness his anniversary was the same day as the VMA's) and Left Eye didn't this year either. Selena did though, I think.
