— The plot = generic, generic, generic.
— And, there is cliche, after cliche, after cliche. As the New York Daily News points out, how do we know she's from a small town? The trademark heavy bangs and little makeup, of course.
— It looks scarily like another Glitter or Crossroads, aka, two of the worst movies ever made, which coincidentally also starred pop divas.
— There are lines like this, from CHER (of all people): "When you are putting on makeup it's like you're an artist, but instead of painting a canvas you're painting a face."
— It stars Christina Aguilera who is so not hot right now. In her desperate attempt at a comeback album she ripped off Lady Gaga and now this? Oiy. Might be time to sail off into the married-with-baby-I'm-already-a-millionaire-sunset.

Wow, sounds like we have a movie that really wants to take away the championship of Worst Move Ever Made from the current title holder.

Moves like Morning Glory + Love And Other Drugs will be more direct competition than Harry Potter. Even Tangled might be more direct competition. Then again, HP appeals to everyone.

I dont think Burlesque needs to make that much money. I doubt the budget was that high

SiXo, it's 40-50 million dollars (again, not totally sure) + promotion. And promotion costs a lot of money as well.
Let's hope for the best

It's more complicated than what the budget was.
If the movie cost 40-50M, it will probably cost at least another 30M to promote worldwide.
If it makes 100M, for example, the studio only retains half of that (the theaters keep the other half).
However, there's also DVD sales, rentals, etc.
