I also thought Alejandro was the wrong single choice (Monster >>>), but it did quite well so ultimately that was ok. For me it was the video killed it. It was the first jump-the-shark moment of her career, where I found myself unable to defend her from her most ardent critics...b/c I agreed. It ended a flawless era with a bitter taste.

I agree with you. The Alejandro video completely lost me. I just didn't know what to say. And I can't even enjoy the song anymore.

She'd better hire a real music video director on her next one...or like Bad Romance, a real film director.
Another thing is, I wonder how she'll change it up this next era while still remaining hugely commercial.
Someone like Katy Perry can always make a cutesy song about how fun it is to be a teenager (until she hits a certain age), but I have no idea where Gaga can/will go.

I must admit that I didn't like the Alejandro video too. I love GaGa but not this video. I only like the marching dancing... other than that not impressed. Okay It was well shot, but went on for far too long, had no clear message, she looked weird, as did the dancers, and it just felt boring and stuffy to me it felt like a Madonna music video instead of a Lady Gaga.
