Big named artists always have the upper hand. They worked to get to this point, so they deserve the recognition? Yes, radio should branch out more, but it's not going to right now. It's not like "Teenage Dream" is just doing good b/c it's Katy, the song is good and radio ready. If the song was terrible, it wouldn't be doing as well.
As far as Usher, he's an even better example. Pop radio didn't support any of his singles last era, besides "Love In This Club". So your point is kind of invalid. They'll play what is hot right now, and Usher has successfully put his name back out.

Um, well it is the new song of the moment. What are we supposed to talk about each song #1 to #1000 then close thread? Of course the song getting major updates and impressive moves is going to be talked about more. Simple logic.
