Here's what to expect for next week:
* A brand new #1 video.
* Miss Independent leaves us, so you best send your love to her.
* Oh, and in case you didn't get it, the debut is by the former frontman of The Police (the group, not the actual po-po).
And this week's debut:
Mary J. Blige featuring Method Man, "Love @ 1st Sight"
Beginning Monday, September 1
John Mayer, "Bigger Than My Body"
Dave Matthews, "Gravedigger"
Fuel, "Falls on Me"
Dido, "White Flag"
Luther Vandross, "Dance with My Father"
Ashanti, "Rain on Me"
Matchbox Twenty, Train, Jewel, and Evanescence's staying power.
Jason Mraz is finally above #16
Let's see how far Mraz goes this time (unless you know, in which case, let's not ruin the surprise). Quite an amazing run, though.
Also, "Where Is the Love?" at #1 I wish the Black Eyed Peas went back to doing songs like that one instead of the meaningless party songs they released from their last album... sigh...
Oh, and GREAT videos added this week. How about we play a game and see if you can guess how many of this week's adds made it to the Top 20?
I started watching the countdown in 2006 so I haven't the slightest idea how Marz goes.
I miss the Black Eyed Pea's older stuff.
I'm gonna say 5 of them will make it to the Top 20
Well if you like Jason Mraz, you're in for a pleasant surprise And, yeah, I also miss the BEP's older stuff. Now they're all about making catchy party tunes and have forgotten about making songs with meaning (like "Where Is the Love?"). Or perhaps it's their record label's fault, as they only push the party singles. Oh, and good guess, but you had one too many. Four of these videos will debut in the countdown.
Anyway, here's what to expect next week:
* We pick up the pace with two countdown debuts, and there will be A LOT of movement in September (i.e., half the songs in the countdown this week will be gone by the end of September).
* One debut is from the frontman of a band that also carries his name (i.e., "the [insert frontman's name] Band") who's for some reason obsessed with his grave.
* The other one's from a pop singer-songwriter who says he's "bigger than [his] body gives him credit for."
Here's what to expect for next week:
* MORE B.E.P. domination. and a +10 jump!
* We say goodbye to two more videos: I can't remember when was the last time I was so saddened by one of the fall-offs, but it was my intuition that it would happen...
* And of course, two countdown debuts:
>> One from a group that's already been in the countdown for 20+ weeks.
>> Another from a Canadian rock group that's been quite successful in the VH1 Top 20 throughout their whole career.
i know what the debut is.is it matchbox 20 bright lights?
That's one of them, definitely. There's one more, though!
By the way, looking at previous debuts: "Send Your Love" and "Bigger Than My Body"
But "Seven Nation Army" falling off (and the heartbreak seems to keep on coming, though...)
