Everyone is dispensible in the pop industry.
Beyonce, Gaga stans ect.. stop acting as if your faves would sell millions farting the phonebook, they wouldn't.
If any of the other girls bought out 'Rated R' after coming off a 'GGGB' type-era, it'd sell the same roughly, no less, no more.
Rihanna could bring out an album, the same genre as 'GGGB', obviously changing it up a bit, progressing the sound (or there'd be the TEOM & E=MC2 type situation) and it'd sell millions. Just look at Russian Roulette then Rude Boy, she went back to her older style and she was #1 again..
Rihanna has the potential to be in this industry as long as everyone else.

Worldwidealbums.net was a lot more accurate than UWC, but since the former web site shut down I had to use info from UWC as an estimate. So, with the combined info, RR has only sold 1.8 million copies till this very day.
IF (and I say IF) RR had sold 2 million. So? It's still horrible. All the other girls are selling more than that.
Her tour was almost sold out in Europe? Wasn't that the same situation with her last tour, but it still bombed overall? She will bomb with this tour too. She won't be doing $100 million like all the other big girls.
So, flop album, tour that will gross not very much. What else do you have? Oh yes. That ONE number 1 song from this era. Pffft. All the other girls have done better.
From top to bottom with just one album. Ouch.

Who's all the other girls?
Ke$ha? Oh right, shes OPENING for Rihanna.
Gaga? Oh right, shes had two number ones.
Ciara? Still cant seem to bring back that "it" factor she used to have.
And Rihanna has made over $2 mill in 3 dates in Europe.
She has 28 other dates in Europe that the grosses havent been released.
She could basicially pull $28 mill from Europe, and then she has 28 dates in the US.

Do you think I don't understand where you're getting "not commercial" from? Of course I do. But I just think you're wrong. TE is hardly a shocking departure from Goodies. If anything she was just "evolving" with trends in hip-hop/R&B. It was more mature, but that doesn't mean it was less marketable. NO there was not a "Goodies"-sized smash on it, but there was enough meat for it to sell respectably in and out of the US. It was no commercial failure, just a modest dip. She could have very easily recovered and had another massive era like her debut, but it was obviously Fantasy Ride that screwed her career.
She didn't have to be in the position to "gain her urban fanbase back" today. From the start Ciara was a POP sensation, a clear crossover. It's a perfect storm of changing tastes in pop, a couple years of bad management and a simple lack of interest that has put Ciara on the back burner.
|
IMO,the reason she's trying to gain her urban fans back now
is probably because so many people said she alienated them
on FR.....and the reason i think FR was so pop friendly was because
people were saying she alienated her pop fans on TE.....
but i kinda agree with you only on the part where you said
she didn't have to be in that position because a lot of people
keep saying her core audience is urban when i don't think it is
since she started out appealing to both formats at the same time....
i think the best thing for ciara to do now is to focus on music that
isn't geared for a specific format but to make music that can appeal
to everybody and every format at the same time to bring everybody back
together because if she keeps separating formats it's gonna be
splitting her fans up...at least that's what i think

What I mean, is if your material isn't strong, it's not gonna be a hit.
Anybody can make a song that appeals to everybody.

Thank you!!!
If Lady Gaga came out with like a more RnB sound, its like RR.
If Bey came out with a more Rockish sound its like RR.
If Ke$ha sang on her album, its like RR.
Same with Britney. (If she didnt auto-tune any song)

You better stop throwing shade, little girl.
What you need to do is go post flyers around town promoting the Last Girl On Earth tour cause those auditoriums aren't even close to being sold out.

Quality material doesn't determine success. If it did, Ke$ha would be nowhere.

i wouldn't say garbage but maybe songs that aren't as commercial
or mainstream won't do as well and IDK what is so hard for
people to understand about that....

I've been following Rated R's sales and it's sold 500k since February worldwide. Not 1.2 million. So, 1.3 million + 500k= 1.8 million.
|
But that doesn't prove that she didn't sell 2 million already. And plus you're using old numbers so you don't know how much she's sold.

So I'm guessing your saying then, that if Britney released an album with NO auto-tune on any song, and no effects on her voice, it would sell like Rated R?
and they are actually called ARENAS.

DELUSIONAL. Gaga only has 2 #1's, HOWEVER her current album has sold 10 million, she's grossing $4 million PER SHOW in Australia (you see that? Not in 3 dates, but with each shows). She's slaying Rihanna these days. In the singles charts, sales AND tour numbers. Also, including Lady Gaga, Pink, Beyonce and Britney all had their #1 singles with their most recent albums, plus their previous records outsold Rated R. Oh, and all their tours have grossed over $100 million. Rihanna did better than then (except for the touring part) with GGGB, but now they all all taking a dump on her.

Hmmmmm. Nope. Sorry. Not here to stay. With all the public sympathy she had after Chris Brown beat her up, you'd expect more. Hell, I'm even sure her label expected her to be one of the biggest sellers out of all the other girls. But in terms of sales, she's coming in last!!!
Fading former it girl. Flash in the pan. Fluke. Call it whatever. She's fading.

THIS is how I know she's sold almost 3 million copies worldwide:

Lady Gaga:
Rod Laver Arena Melbourne 39,299 / 39,299 (100%) $2,679,010[69]
Sydney Entertainment Centre Sydney 35,460 / 35,460 (100%) $2,533,140[70]
Brisbane Entertainment Centre Brisbane 25,222 / 25,476 (99%) $2,065,210[70]
And those are all for two shows each
