...Since 1995 iirc, the only major Actress contenders with sub-50 MC/RT are Elizabeth the Golden Age, Cake, and Girl on the Train. Cate got in largely cuz some felt she should've won for the role the first time around. Sag+Globe nominee Aniston did not. I assume Blunt will not.

And Denzel does still have shot. It all just depends who their fellow actors think delivered the better performance. Just look at when Daniel Day-Lewis had his Oscar snatched by Adrien Brody, after winning almost everything else.
