There have been SO many songs released by female popstars that I thought have sounded like SMASHES (and probably would've flopped if released 5 years ago) yet have flopped.

In all seriousness, I really think (pure) pop girls are over for good after 2017.
If they ever do make a comeback into the mainstream (which I can't see happening) it won't be for a long time.
One of the reasons why I stan Katy is that she releases ""generic"" bops - I don't care if pretentious people label her music as generic, Katy serves bops I just hope she doesn't cave into the status quo of releasing more urban sounding music.
Forgotten was maybe too strong of a word for me to use, but I feel like she's nowhere near the force she was with her first three albums.

Literally nobody feels huge anymore. The Chainsmokers dominated the charts for a long time but even they still feel like midcarders. Adele, Justin Bieber, Rihanna, and Drake (somewhat) were the only noteworthy popstars during the past twelve months.
I hope she has better taste with choosing singles this time, still haunted by the fact Legendary Lovers and Walking on Air never became singles because of Unconditionally and This Is How We Do.

I'd say Birthday was the third worst single, and if I was to replace two singles from the area with LL and WOA it would've been Unconditionally and TIHWD. Birthday was a bit of a bop and deserved to smash more than them, was just a shame about its music video.
