YOU are telling me everything I know and believe in. But more than half of America either doesn't understand it or are too selfish to try. People (especially upper middle class whites) don't want to hear about you taking their taxes away and giving it to the poor. That is facts. Reaganomics is still deeply loved in this country. America has not had a progressive tax system in decades for a reason.)

I agree but people are taught to hate things like single payer healthcare and other progressive policies because republicans hammer it in their heads and misinform them. It doesn't help that democrats either cave in to republicans or have done a TERRIBLE job at convincing people why their policies are better. The funny thing is that Trump also supports it (well at least did before he had to pretend not to) because it's morally the right thing to do.
Democrats by nature are socialists, whether they admit to it or not. Maybe not radical socialists like Che Guevara or something (we all still support a free market system - as do people like Bernie) but we believe that the government must regulate certain aspects of our economy/government so that it doesn't get out of control. History shows that when the government deregulates, the economy tanks and people suffer. Democrats/progressives have won the argument when you look at the facts. Now they just need to get that message across better.
For 6 years they have allowed for republicans to obstruct and hurt the government just so they could later run against it. They've literally shut down the government just so they can convince people that government is bad. Government works when it works for the people. That's why democrats need to stop laying in bed with corporations, etc. It defeats the purpose of their message.
They need to run on the New Deal message again. The majority of the country wants something new. That's why the country voted for Trump. They want a government that works for them. They may say they don't want government, etc but the truth is that they LOVE progressive, big government policies, they just don't realize it because they're told to hate it. Look at how many people in red states signed up for Obamacare, despite booing it every time they hear the name. Look at how many are upset that it might get repealed.
Democrats need to change their messaging and they need the right messenger.
