it should be noted that while she debuted prior to Mariah, Céline has sold more records than Mariah since Mariah's debut.

But... Formation made less top 10's and less top 20 position in its lifetime than AIWFCIY did in 2016...
Formation: (a few months old song)
Top 10: 9
Top 20: 11
AIWFCIY: (22 years old song)
Top 10: 12 + Belgium (where it isn't allowed to re-chart: #1 on the catalogue chart)
Top 20: 19

lol what is this comparison?
One song is a highly promoted, highly rotated, annual classic that will come back due to nostalgia and the repetition of traditions being an integral part of the holiday season.
The other is a standard single released, handled unconventionally with no promotion after being free for months, with a video that was unlisted until 2 weeks ago.
All the respect should be for Mariah for conquering this market but comparing it’s success is silly. Otherwise we could say that Bing Crosby having a 35 year old song, White Christmas, peaking at #3 in in the UK in 1977 means something about his relevance at the time. There's no doubt that AIWFCIY will be far more remembered and listened to than Formation though.

I'm not even a proper stan, and this is honestly one of the most delusional, discrediting posts I've seen on ATRL. You should request a permaban.

Jesus when the lambs come they come to knock
I love Mariah and I think that she's amazing and only a few girls have enough talent and success to compare to her. Those two are Beyoncé and P!nk.

Correct. Adele, Beyoncé, Taylor, and Rihanna are the next pop girls in line, but they still won't touch her peak.

Among the hip hop, pop, and R&B artists who have cited Carey as an influence are Adele, Aneeka, Ariana Grande, Britney Spears, Beyoncé, Katy Perry, Lady Gaga, Bridgit Mendler, Christina Aguilera, Jessica Simpson, Rihanna, Grimes, Kelly Clarkson, Nelly Furtado, Bonnie McKee, Leona Lewis, Brandy Norwood, Pink, Mary J. Blige, Melanie Fiona, Missy Elliott, Sam Smith, Hikaru Utada, Regine Velasquez, Sarah Geronimo, Charice, Jordin Sparks, Justin Bieber, and Jessica Sanchez.
According to Stevie Wonder, "When people talk about the great influential singers, they talk about Aretha, Whitney and Mariah. That's a testament to her talent. Her range is that amazing."
Beyoncé credits Carey's singing and her song "Vision of Love" as influencing her to begin practicing vocal "runs" as a child, as well as helping her pursue a career as a musician.
Rihanna has stated that Carey is one of her major influences and idol.
Christina Aguilera said in the early stages of her career that Carey was a big influence in her singing career and one of her idols.
http://prince.org/msg/8/422742 - a very long read but so worth it!
Hopefully people here will give Mariah the respect she deserves before she dies, not after.

She has charted every year of the last ten years with the exception of 2007. Try again.
Your faves will keep her relevant as well. Fact.
