It's just not equivalent at all. Because listening to those singles on the radio didn't physically translate into single sales AND album sales. It just piqued people's interest in the artist.

Same Anywhere you go is way too crowded and hectic. Luckily I do have plans and I also have a (white, masc, alt rock listening) boyfriend so I can always just say we did something cool together and won't be considered a loser.

La Bicicleta was all her (absolutely no bodies were checking for Carlos Vives) but Chantaje is benefitting massively from Maluma's presence. Although ironically it may also be holding it back in Europe radio since he opens the song.

Yeah, he is helping but it's Maluma's biggest hit already so Shakira still wins. It's his first #1 on Hot Latin Songs, his first Hot 100 entry, his first chart entry in Canada, France, Italy, Germany, among others, his 2nd #1 in Spain after La Bicicleta (Remix), etc.

Beyonce doesn't do singles. We get it.

There are other ways to be musically successful. Emphasizing the one arena Rihanna is the strongest in won't change the fact that Beyonce's musical album sold 2x as much as Rihanna's musical album. It's all music in the end. Whether it's an entire album unit, or just one song because people aren't heavily invested in the artist.
