It's sad! But I'm glad my sis has become a full time model and has retired from being a musician.
Tinashe is in the same bind, and I blame her fans.

Yup. And right after that, Future blew up. She would have been the first with the Future sound if she let him exec produce the whole album.
Body Party was produced by him, and it was her biggest hit after a few failed lead singles. She should have stuck with that sound. She went back to Dr. Fluke again for her latest album.

I'm just pointing out the fact that streams can be and are being altered by playlists (which artists can pay for a position on them). This is a fact, literally every single song that is on the Top Hits playlist is charting on the Top 200 of Global Spotify.

Bruno had huge playlist payola too.

He had Spotify payola and still flopped (it spent 3 days total in Top 10 on US Spotify). It ain't Spotify's fault people just don't want to listen to the new music.

I understand what you're saying, but there's SO many songs on the Top Hits playlist that don't get any traction at all, yet have the streams they have because they're on the playlist. But it ends there.
It's like how a song like GUY or KIB can have 30M streams yet they never went Top 10 on the Spotify chart. It doesn't really matter.

I like all of her album covers except for Heart Station (which is just too basic for me) and the English albums.

Yeah, but at the end of the day those extra streams of people that are just listening to playlists with no intention of actually listening to a song by certain artist are fueling album sales with the new SPS methodology.
It would be interesting to see actual streams not done through playlists. Zara Larson, her career, would be in jeopardy.

Yup. And right after that, Future blew up. She would have been the first with the Future sound if she let him exec produce the whole album.
Body Party was produced by him, and it was her biggest hit after a few failed lead singles. She should have stuck with that sound. She went back to Dr. Fluke again for her latest album.

Future ending it with Ciara helped his career the most.
I don't think he would've made Monster/Beast Mode/56 Nights/DS2 if they were still together.

It would be interesting to see actual streams not done through playlists. Zara Larson, her career, would be in jeopardy.

Yeah, but those are comprehensive streams that aren't really doing much for an artist's SPS in the long-run if they aren't able to constantly get a ton of streams each week, which is why you don't see people like Zara (I don't know if she released an album or not) and them easily plaques.
The people who get those 2x/3x Platinum certications ultimately deserve them because they're the most popular records.

It's not the same, people have to actually be interested in the whatever's in the iTunes banners to buy it, there's no such thing as 'accidental' purchases
Whereas with Spotify playlists, people merely have to tolerate the song or be too lazy to skip it, and it still counts towards SPS. And more than a billion streams per week come from Spotify playlists, so it makes a huge difference
As Ramos said, it's like counting airplay as sales (Spotify playlists = radio)

Louis isn't really a nobody. I'm sure all the remaining 1D fans are spamming it. But yes it is tragic and unlistenable.

Meanwhile, Adele's third studio album, 25, was Christmas's most unwanted CD, figures show. Second-hand product buyer musicmagpie.com said more than 32,000 copies of the hit album were traded in over just 48 hours.'

An artist getting a few million streams from playlists despite people not liking the song / realizing it's playing is no different than artists selling a few million albums in the 90s off terrible albums because the public could only preview the album with the 1-2 singles on radio before buying and hearing it fully.
Should they take the time the millions of buyers who regret buying it and subtract those sales?

G-Easy or whatever his name is, had a lot of Spotify payola (& overall payola) and he has like a platinum certification or something like that based on Spotify payola.
I'm not saying it's right or wrong, just pointing out the fact that Spotify payola is real and tangible. It's kinda more evident than radio payola.

Everybody already has the album (10m albums sold in the US alone).

It should be lemonade. 32k out of 10 million sold is small though

Labels will always have tricks and gimmicks to artificially inflate whatever metric is most important.
Spotify payola isn't that big of a deal.

You're just saying every popular artist who also happens to be on playlists has payola.
Many artists are popular, and are spammed all over playlists BECAUSE that, not payola. You're not getting that.
Spotify is spamming Weeknd on playlists even if his label doesn't pay because he's huge anyways. Playlists aren't just 100% label bought, Spotify chooses songs/artists doing well on streaming and adds them.

Starboy, the album is a grower. Way to many songs, but I'm liking several of them.
Love to Lay, Attention, and Stargirl Interlude are a few favorites.
