Kerry's speech makes perfect sense, as the US must hold both sides accountable for their actions. A friend can only enable another friend for so long before the results come back to hurt both allies. Remember every time the US complains about China protecting North Korea? While Israel's PM isn't the danger NK's Kim is, the US has vetoed far more anti-Israeli resolutions trying to hold that country accountable for its actions than China has intervened to defend NK. So one can't complain about China usually vetoing or at least watering down NK sanctions and at the same time believe the US should veto EVERY resolution attempting to stop Israel from building settlements on Palestinian land.

More than half of US foreign aid goes to Israel. I think we just donated another $38 billion to further build up Israel's military -- which breaks the US' own laws about not selling weapons to countries that refuse to sign the nuclear proliferation treaty.
