The fat acceptance movement is literally the worst one out right now.
Sure you shouldn't attack/mock someone for their weight but that's literally the only valid talking point they have.
Obesity is not heatlhy, not genetic in most cases, not beautiful and should by no means be normalised or commended in any way. Obesity is killing people in the West right now worse than anything else yet these people wanna sweep it under the rug damaging people in the process. Appaling.
omg, I watched some videos on Youtube with that female doctor clocking a fat acceptance woman activist with receipts about how unhealthy her lifestyle is, that fat woman was left shook!
EDIT: why do I have feeling when random people will enter this thread, they're gonna indeed think we're "alt. right" or some stupid mess like that when we criticize how our left-wing political spectrum has gone downhill with these un-factual "progressive" trends that have been happening among people within' our political spectrum tho?
I think the problem people who are fat have with "fat shaming" is that unless they devote a significant portion of their lives to staying under a certain weight, it's going to be hard for them to keep from being obese.
Just think about the things you do every day and how little time you have to exercise. Then imagine, that you put on weight exponential to what you eat. dd That's a tough place to be. I used to be highly critical about fat people until I had a reality check.
I experienced a little bit of that this semester of school. Where I had no time to take care of myself. My only saving grace was that my genetics works the opposite of fat people. I'm an ectomorph. So I LOSE weight when I'm not eating like I should (consistently and healthily). So I was lucky in that regard and instead I lost 10 lbs instead of gained 10 lbs. Then it kind of hit me that some of my friends with the same schedule, eating the same school meals, were gaining weight. And I felt bad for them cause I know their excuse isn't that they're lazy. They just don't have time to look up from their books or laptop cause of school.

being chubby =/= being unhealthy overweight size!
and the problem is with saying how being fat is great and all, when it's not. I saw a video of these fat acceptance activists literally eating themselves because they want to get bigger. And they eat tons of food everyday and I literally felt so disgusted by it, watching this bitch putting unnecessary food in her mouth meanwhile the first image that came to my mind was children starvning in Africa and all other poor countries where children have barely food to eat and this bitch then wants to cry how "oppressed" she is, and how society doesn't see her "beautiful"? She's disgusting, not because she's fat in a very unhealthy type of way, but she's disgusting because she has no self-respect to put all those food into her body when millions of people barely have bread for a day. I also am busy, but this summer I got my lazy ass to workout at least twice a week for 45mins to an hour. I haven't went to gym or anything like that, and I am already starting to get abs, yet this bitch thinks she can't lose weight even if she tries to work out 20mins before sleep or something? Puh-lease
The problem with this fat shaming issue is that some people use the "unhealthy" slogan as an excuse to bully them. Like that Youtuber who made "dear fat people" video and got a shitstorm of hate which is completely justifiable.
Obesity is a one way ticket to a long list of comorbidities. In every fat person, regardless of age, there's CVS problem waiting to happen.
Obesity is no laughing issues, and assholes who make fun of them are only making it even worse. Fat people who get made fun of, or bullied tend to resort to food to comfort themselves, which is wrong. This happens even at the gyms where they want to fix their problems. I've seen it before and I was completely disgusted
The problem is with people being pressured into being thin. It's our society saying that being chubby or overweight is a bad thing and shaming people who are overweight. Loving yourself as you are for who you are is an incredibly strong and empowering feeling. Is this not why people come out the closet rather than just pretend to be straight? I can see why people who have been mocked and shamed for something (whether it's their weight, religious attire, sexual preference, hair texture, etc.) turn to accepting and celebrating it rather than just conforming to their persecutor's standards. What is interesting, though, is how most of you don't see it that way.

Being overweighted is unhealthy. Being gay is not.
Plus you have control over your weight in the vast majority of cases, you don't have control over your sexuality.
Your weight isn't a part of who you "are", your sexuality is.

1. You can still be overweight and healthy, just as you live a homosexual lifestyle and be healthy. You're at a higher risk for health issues than those who live heterosexual lifestyles and are physically fit, though. https://www.cdc.gov/msmhealth/for-your-health.htm
2. You very much do have control on whether or not you're going to pursue a gay relationship, or stare at that cute boy at your school, or have sex with somebody of Grindr. You can choose to do those things off of the assumption that there is nothing wrong with being gay or you can choose not to do those things if you're convinced that being gay is wrong. You are in control here.

3. For some people it is.
1. Because of the behavior in the community, not because of the fact they're gay. Being overweighted is directly linked to health issues.
2. You're in control to act on your sexuality, you are not in control on what turns you on.
Let's settle this like adults. Gay sex can be unhealthy if you practice it incorrectly. However, the negative impact of "being gay" is only psychosocial. Not physiological. And these negative effects can be overcome with psychiatric therapy and support.
And there's a huge difference between being "overweight" and obese. Overweight people can be healthy, it's not impossible. However, if your BMI exceeds 40, then you're just unhealthy. Even if you eat healthy food.
Obesity itself is a risk factor of many chronic diseases, regardless of the obese person's lifestyle.

"Overweight and obesity may increase the risk of many health problems, including diabetes, heart disease, and certain cancers. If you are pregnant, excess weight may lead to short- and long-term health problems for you and your child."
You're already at risk if you're "just" overweighted.
But as I said, it's like smoking imo, you do what you want with your health. But it's normal it's discouraged.

That's true but it's not that simple. The higher your BMI, the higher the risk.
Everyone has risk factors of developing a cardiovascular disease, that's why it's inevitable.
The concept of "health" is not that simple either. No one on this Earth is 100% healthy by medical/clinical standards.
So, my point stands still. For the most part, if you do not have any chronic disease, then you're healthy. But Obesity Class III (+40 BMI) itself is actually classified as a chronic illness by WHO. And it leads to other chronic illness.
Being "overweight" (BMI=25 - 29.9) simply means that you're on your way to writing your own destiny with a deadly heart attack, if you don't change your lifestyle. It progresses from being simply overweight, to Obese Class I to Class II and Class III.

It's like saying smokers don't always develop lunge cancer while some who never smoked do, therefore smoking isn't always unhealthy. The fact remains that smokers are more likely to develop one. The same way overweighted people are more likely to develop heart attack and other health issues.
I dont think being fat is healthy (and especially not obese), but I think people neglect the human component of it.
That one girl that Avril mentioned that eats just to eat is so gross to me. But i doubt the majority of overweight people are like that. The majority of them WANT to conform to societal standards. But they can't without more hard work than us skinny people. And a lot of jobs don't account for that time. Especially if you're someone who needs to have two jobs or go to school with a job or have a kid to take care of too. My mom is one of those people. She's naturally skin, but has let herself go over the years raising 4 kids, working a 12 hour shift, and getting her engineering degree. She goes on walks every now and then, but it couldn't catch up to her hectic lifestyle.
And even seeing this growing up, I was still ignorant and always told her she should make some time for the gym, take care of herself, eat better, blah blah blah. Cause my only concerns were going to school and playing sports and coming home and playing video games to a dinner my mom prepared. Lol. So of course it was easy.
But now that I'm living the adult life first hand, Im starting to get a sense of just how obstructive work life can be to good fitness value.

No, sis. It's really not
Smoking is a high risk factor for cancer, COPD and countless other things. Meaning that smokers have a HIGH chance of developing these diseases.
Same thing with OBESITY. The higher someone's BMI, the higher the chance of them getting Diabetes Mellitus, Angina, Deep Venous Thromboembolism etc... These diseases accumulate with these risk factors like weight, age and genetics. And as it accumulates, the risk factor's per centage (the chance of developing the disease), increases.
Overweight people have a lesser chance of getting those diseases compared with OBESE people.

Unless you have an hormonal issue to gain weight you have to eat more calories than you burn, it's that simple. We're not talking about being fit here, simply not overweighted. You don't have to exercise in order to not be overweighted.
