Few of my all time favorite Janet songs (posting since I've really only been in this base thread once before)



"Together Again" has such a beautiful message. Obviously at the time the song came out, I didn't know the meaning behind the song since I was too young to understand lyrics (or the background behind the song)

I also remember being kind of obsessed with "Someone to Call My Lover" and "Doesn't Really Matter", I think mostly because of the Nutty Professor.

A lot of classic Janet songs, but if we're talking newer era kind of songs, I really like No Sleep, Take Me Away, Rock Wit U, and Feedback a lot too!

Then when All For You was released, It was like GOD came to earth. No one had released a record like that in 2000-2001. I'm still kinda shook about All For You slayage in 2001.

It's weird to consider that, per Soundscan, All For You and The Velvet Rope were equally popular. Both sold a bit over 3 million copies (club sales aside), and both had a massive #1 single and a #3 single.

The Velvet Rope just felt - and feels - like a much bigger era. Yes, there were more singles and videos, but it's something else... does anyone know what I might be getting at?

Both considered a step down commercially from Control, Rhythm Nation and janet. ?

in 2001, Janet's All For You was not considered a step down. All For You was literally a reinvention to her success, and many consider ha an ICON during this era. The Velvet Rope era felt lukewarkm though.

Yes this is true. I however do not believe All For God only sold 7 million copies worldwide.

I feel like Rhythm Nation & janet. went diamond too.

Ughh she needs to update her sales

Control - 7 million
Rhythm Nation 1814 - 10 million
janet. - 9 million
Design Of A Decade - 4-5 million
The Velvet Rope - 4 million
All For You - 3 million

In my opinion, I agree that All For You feels bigger than the Velvet Rope era. I think because of the content on the album that got it banned in several countries and the Parental Advisory that it hurt the sales worldwide. But the AFY was so iconic that Janet still proved she was still THAT B****, over Britney and Christina.
