I'm sorry, but Dammn Baby is lowkey her pandering to the children when everything else about Unbreakable was the opposite of that. Like, I think it's cute, but it should never be recognized as the best of anything, especially not the best of an album where Janet really reclaimed her status as an artist of quality songmaking.

The vocal production is tragic, which is especially apparent when listening to that remix that does away with the awful layering that makes the original version unintelligible. Jam and Lewis are her best collaborators, but they also ruined some **** on occasion.

For me, Dammn Baby is a great bridge between the melodic super-hooks of Janet's heyday and contemporary music. It's fresh but doesn't sound like it's trying too hard. Not to my ears, anyway. My only concern with the song is the vocal production, like you said. Oh to have stems.

Yeah, I never got the Dammn Baby hype either. It and BURNITUP are easily the weakest links of Unbreakable to me. Still cute, but nothing special

Completely agree, but I "get" the vocals. @Aerosol I think the song is supposed to be a big wink because she's talking about shaking the room and maintaining her ID whole hopping on trends. I like what it represents and it's super fun.

Was there ever a studio version of the version of If she performed on the janet. tour? I know there's an extended version of the song which I have but I can't recall if it has the 2nd dance breakdown instrumental segment at the end.

Most definitely. I use BIU once in a while, but I don't care for it like I did when I first heard it. At least it got some type of promo from Kevin Hart and the dancers who did routines and uploaded them. Janet said **** it.

I still listen to UA regularly. It's an amazing album that Janet needed to put out. If this is her last album, at least it's relevant to todays social issues.

Perfect example. Honey, Fantasy, and Obsessed (Mariah). Hardly sound like the overall quality of the album, but we still love it, and they're BOPS. Dammn Baby is the same.

I maintain that Unbreakable was a gift to the fans more than anything else. The album has a little bit of everything but it's not a dissonant grab bag. Everything hangs together well, you go on a journey when you listen to it.
