Over the top, bland or boring doesn't mean bad. Her Million Reasons performances were boring and bland but they're not bad (there's nothing much to expect from a ballad anyway, just citing as an example that bland doesn't mean bad).
Many (if not most) Adele performances are boring and bland (I mean, she just stand onstage wearing a black dress, at least each MR performance is different) but they're not bad, they're really good.

I just want to say that CK (not sure if considered a performace but I want to include this cuz it's my top fav), AMAs and SNL performances of Million Reasons are pretty bland (again there's nothing much to expect from a ballad) but I do love them.
