You're right. You can't say the same about Applause because it is one of her best songs and the best lead single along with Just Dance, Bad Romance and Perfect Illusion. The other lead single is trash.

J. Cole doesn't have any songs on TTH. It's just Spotify is very urban-oriented overall. So black rap/rnb artists are doing there better than pop girls (except Rih, Adele). And that's why, sadly, Gaga doesn't really have any chance at all.

If only at least the radio were backing her up

I have a feeling the current music listening population is more urban oriented. All those people who bought born this way are gone now. Gaga is not able to connect with the current 18 - 26 generation as much as she should.

Well to be fair, Gaga and Mark were done with the album but Interscope didn't hear a lead single on it so they actively went shopping for a BANGER that Interscope wanted, come back with a stomping synth song. And so did they find Kevin Parkers "Illusion" that they were willing to work on with Kevin and Perfect Illusion was born with the exact purpose of becoming a lead single.
