I'm sorry but he's way too young and inexperienced. We can't be picking candidates because people have crushes on them, etc.

i think had kander won he would have been a better VP choice for an older candidate (like warren) and his military experience definitely would have helped him with the experience issue.

39 is definitely too young. he would have been destroyed for his lack of experience.

i think tulsi is definitely gonna run too.

As much as I love her, I just feel like she's too young as well. I just can't see her being a viable option for president with such little experience and such little constituency. And I know Trump had no experience but he ran on his business acumen (as flawed as it is)

That's why I sympathize with people who like Kander. I mostly want Tulsi for 2020 and am willing to overlook her lack of experience and age because she's hot but I know it's not the smart thing for 2020.

People like her and Kander are promising for 10 to 20 years from now but right now they need to build up more credibility as potential presidential nominees.

It's nothing to do with crushes: there is nothing to say a 39 year old can't be President.

In 2020, Kander would have been a Senator for one term (same as Obama), spent time in the military, been in the Missouri House of Representatives, and then been Missouri Secretary of State. He no doubt understands far more about the political system than Trump. It isn't as though he just got out of high school - he would have been experienced enough. Sure, not Hillary experienced - but few are.

And as said: people don't care about experience as much as you think. Look at history. The charismatic, exciting candidate wins. If you think a 60 year old with tons more political experience that cannot connect with anyone is a better candidate than a 39 year old who could excite people, then - you're wrong. Look at John Kerry. Plenty of experience, plenty of credentials: still George Bush beat him because he wasn't exciting, or, rather, people couldn't connect with him. He had zero charisma.

Seriously - tell me a time in history when the charismatic or exciting candidate loses.

You can have all the credibility in the world. It means nothing if people aren't listening or aren't excited by you.

Al Gore, John Kerry, and Hillary Clinton were probably three of the most experienced candidates in history. All in their 50s/60s and they couldn't win the Electoral College. Hardly a great example of how great older, experienced candidates are.

Charisma and exciting people are far more important. People care about whether you can excite them in the present, and whether your vision is one they can attach themselves to. Nobody cares about what you managed to do as X, Y, and Z 12 years ago. Perhaps sad - but its true.

Honestly, yes. Cause he kinda was the perfect storm. He had every characteristic of a "good" leader. Educated, likable, ~cool, kind of attractive, and personable. Even his voice has the perfect tone and delivers with the right cadence.

I think we just kind of expected all our next candidates to easily fit that mold.
