Yes, they can. I haven't watched the new video but I heard they changed some scenes. I remember they edited Kesha's Die Young video and it's lyrics video too.

None of the scenes are different that I noticed, but Britney's vocals were removed from that "7 Minutes in Heaven" line and that ad-lib from the remix was added in, too.
